About pelvic inflammatory disease

Posted in: All

The more sex partners a woman has, the greater her risk of developing PID. Pelvic inflammatory disease may extend from infection of the lower female reproductive tract, including the vagina and cervix.
Even if symptoms go away, the woman should finish taking all of the prescribed medicine. This will help prevent the infection from returning. Women being treated for PID should be re-evaluated by their health care provider three days after starting treatment to be sure the antibiotics are working to cure the infection.
Many women don’t know they have PID because they don’t have any symptoms. For women who have them, symptoms can range from mild to severe. The most common symptom of PID is pain in your lower abdomen (stomach area).
