What are symptoms and signs of Lyme disease?

Posted in: All

Some people with Lyme disease have a rash (called erythema migrans) at the site of the tick bite. Here are some lyme disease symptoms:
• Lack of energy, which is the most common symptom.
• Headache and stiff neck.
• Fever and chills.
• Muscle and joint pain.
• Swollen lymph nodes.
In later stages, the bacteria disseminate throughout the body and may cross the blood-brain barrier, making the infection more difficult to treat. B. burgdorferi bacteria cause Lyme disease. The bacteria have a complex life cycle, spending part of their life in the deer tick and part in some mammals such as mice and deer. Humans are not a part of the bacterium’s life cycle but can become infected when bitten by the tick.
